Ain't Life Grand ....
I am mindful today of Rob's story about his grandfather, and the generation of incredible people who shaped much of our life today .. how they sometimes get knocked down, but with remarkable strength and determination struggle to their feet once again.
My Aunt Jean is 87. Until a few days ago, she was hail and hearty, albeit a little bowed under the years ... living independently in a retirement complex. She fell on Tuesday and has been in and out of hospital, enduring the probing and poking, tests and x-rays. She's been doped on morphine, shunted hither and thither, stuck with needles, prodded and shaken, but not stirred.
She came back chuckling today ... tired, but not beaten.
Much as I despise the Canadian "universal healthcare" system, there are caring and competent individuals with the inside track on working it. I am grateful to them. Thanks to them, I've been able to find a temporary placement for Aunt Jean, with assisted care, which will help her back to an independent lifestyle.
You go, girl!

Aunt Jean, please get well!
Thanks, Mac. Since the post, she's been motoring about with her walker, and even made it down to breakfast this morning.
What a woman!
I've seen the same thing with my mother's recuperation, Diana. I think it must be the universal tenacity of the Great Depression/WW II generation.
Suggestion? Get your aunt one of those bicycle squeeze-bulb horns for her walker. Nothing encouraged and gave my mother a sense of power like sneaking up behind someone and scaring the ever-loving snot out of them.
Hah! Will do!!!
You can try, but you can't keep a good woman down!
