Saint Leonard ...
And, he is. One of my favourite peoples.
Leonard Lee, the businessman behind Lee Valley retail stores, started off making tools for whittling wooden handicrafts, but now his products are used to close up the wounds of U.S. marines in Iraq.
After handing the reins of Lee Valley to his son in 2003, Mr. Lee renewed his focus on his then-five-year-old medical instruments company, Canica. Since last fall, Canica's innovative wound closure systems have been deployed to the frontlines of Iraq, but there are still many Canadian doctors who have never heard of them.
Representatives from Canica will be trying to introduce their products to the country's trauma surgeons at the Trauma Association of Canada's national conference, which continues here until Saturday.
