Yup ... I'd say an election is due any second now ...

From the Toronto Sun

WITH THE slaughter of at least 88 innocents and wounding of 119 this weekend in Egypt by fanatical Muslim terrorist bombers, the message is becoming crystal clear:

People of the world --whether non-Muslim or Muslim -- had better unite to fight and destroy such fundamentalist terrorist groups as Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida or face their own destruction.

[...] Yesterday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak flew to the Sharm el-Sheik resort area on the Red Sea to inspect the devastation and support the attacked people.

"This cowardly, criminal act is aimed at undermining Egypt's security and stability and harming its people and its guests (tourists)," he said.

"This will only increase our determination in chasing terrorism," vowed the president.

Although many victims were foreign tourists, most were Egyptian Muslims -- sneakily and ruthlessly cut down by fellow Muslims.

"Terrorism has no nationality -- this is a terrorist act and can't be explained or justified," said Egyptian PM Ahmed Nazief.

[...] President Bush spoke by phone with Mubarak and promised full support. The White House said his message was: "Standing together with the rest of the civilized world, we will win the conflict against this global scourge."

As for Canada, PM Paul Martin must have been vacationing. He left it to Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew to send a message saying "Canada strongly condemns this terrorist act, and we are deeply troubled by the incidents."

Nothing about standing together to beat the terrorists. [Ed.]

Fortunately, Canada has one leader on full alert these days in the fight against terrorism. He's General Rick Hillier, chief of staff for the Armed Forces ........

There's nothing like being bold!
